Colver Women's Association
MEMBERSHIP:
Open to all women of the Presbyterian church and women of the other churches in the area.
MEETINGS:
Our meeting which is called a Circle meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 PM (except July and August) at the church or occasionally at the home of one of our members. During the meeting we have devotions, a short business meeting, a mission report, Fellowship of Least Coin, Bible Study, and time of fellowship. Members take turns having devotions and acting as hostesses who provide a light lunch (occasionally we have a covered dish or order pizza!)
OFFICERS:
There is an Executive Board which meets at 630 PM before the meeting to set the dates for our various activities and discuss items pertinent to the Presbyterian Women's group. Officers are: Moderator, Vice Moderator, Secretary, Fellowship Chair, and Treasurer. The Executive Committee acts as the Nominating Committee and the Local Service (Kitchen) Committee.
FINANCES:
There are no dues. Money collected as offering is used to help various mission and other projects of the church, to help with youth projects, to help with the electricity and heating of the church and to help support Presbyterian Women at the Presbytery, synod and General Assembly levels. At the meetings, women may participate in:
1) Least Coin Offering - This is a world-wide collection where women give the least coin of their country to help with mission. We collect a penny each month and once a year this is sent in to be combined with other Christian women's least coin.
2) A free will offering
3) Card Fund - to purchase cards and postage for the sick and shut-ins
We participate in a number of special offerings throughout the year:
1) Tools of Hope and Blanket Sunday - open to the congregation. This goes to Church World Service
2) Love Gift - the offering in April is sent to Redstone Presbytery Women to aid in Mission giving
3) Birthday Offering - this is an offering that the southern Presbyterian Church has to honor the birthday of the Christian church and after the northern and southern churches joined, this offering was continued to celebrate Presbyterian Women's heritage of mission giving
4) Thank Offering - held in November to aid in mission projects
5) In September we have a mission project and for the past few years we have collected items for Birthright in Johnstown
FUNERAL DINNERS:
